Canine Stifle Distractors

Canine Stifle Distractors

Meniscal tears are very common among CCL-deficient dogs, so the respective examination is especially critical. Whatsoever, many tears go undetected due to lack of exposition. Arthrex developed an arthroscopically or in an open arthrotomy usable instrument which creates both subluxation and distraction, so both menisci can easily be examined without repositioning of the instrument. In short, it is a necessary tool for every surgeon dealing with CCL ruptures in the canine stifle.

The Arthrex stifle distractor is available in three sizes, which can be easily distinguished by different colours. The following guidelines for selecting the distractor are based on bodyweight although size of the joint may be more appropriate criteria. We would recommend using these guidelines only as suggestions, but we would generally try two sizes if necessary.
