Description

Blood processing using the IRAP ProEAS™ System device produces serum containing anti-inflammatory and anti-degenerative compounds. The newly designed IRAP ProEAS™ System increases the concentration levels of the beneficial factors in the autologous serum. Autologous blood treatment reduces potential side effects or complications associated with other treatment methods. Blood processed using the Arthrex device produces serum containing anti-inflammatory and anti-degenerative compounds. The conditioned serum is completely autologous and contains no drugs.

Arthrex IRAP contains specially designed glass beads that maximize the surface area inside the tube. The specially designed beads stimulate monocytes to produce regenerative and anti-inflammatory proteins without the addition of drugs. Dual ports provide simplified transfers of blood and removal of therapeutic serum. Blood that has been incubated in this unique tube can be separated to produce autologous serum useful for treating mild to moderate Osteoarthritis. Because the serum is derived from the animals own blood, the possibility of adverse allergic or anaphylactic side effects is drastically reduced.

In the current IRAP II device, occasionally there is a “mega-clot” formation that prevents a large volume of serum from being extracted. The new Arthrex IRAP ProEAS device has remedied this issue and optimized the clot formation. This results in a consistently higher volume of serum extracted at 24 hours and allows for a greater total dose of IL-1Ra to be delivered to the patient.

The equipment used is the Hettich Rotofix 32A, Centrifuge (1206-33) and Swing Out Rotor With Buckets for Hettich Rotofix 32A Centrifuge (VAR-1261) and the new IRAP ProEAS™ System counterweight (VAR-1026).
